ARH promotes World Diabetes Day awareness

PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WYMT) – Appalachian Regional Health is shining a light on diabetes, spreading awareness and sharing resources on World Diabetes Day.

ARH representatives gathered with other partners at the Mountain Arts Center on Wednesday, filling the lobby with information tables and health screenings.

Organizers said the sixth annual event was a success and they were proud to be a part of the effort to spread awareness and share needed resources with the community.

“Because they may not know that diabetes education is available within ARH and diabetes support groups where people with lived experiences can come together and learn from each other.” says Ashley Webb, Diabetes Education Coordinator.

The program's theme, “Diabetes and Health,” sparked conversations with guest speakers focused on mental health, nutrition, and fitness.
