'May not wake up…': Lawyer says 'asleep' Arvind Kejriwal's blood sugar level dropped below 50 | Latest News India

Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, arguing for Arvind Kejriwal before the Delhi High Court on Wednesday, argued that his blood sugar level had dropped to 50 while he was sleeping. He said a sudden drop in blood sugar level was dangerous as the patient might not wake up from sleep.

“His (Kejriwal's) blood sugar level during sleep rose to 50. This is a cause for concern. Drop in blood sugar during sleep is dangerous. You may not wake up. Please have a holistic view, common sense view. Three orders have already been passed in my favour,” he told news agency ANI.

Defending Kejriwal against his plea against the CBI arrest, Singhvi said there was no reason for the CBI to arrest him as he was in judicial custody.

He pointed out that Kejriwal's blood sugar level had fallen five times below the 50 mark while in CBI custody.

He described the arrest of the Delhi Chief Minister by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as a “post-hoc insurance arrest”.

He said the authorities had no grounds for his arrest, adding that he was arrested after a court granted him bail in a money laundering case linked to the defunct Delhi excise policy.

“Can they continue to arrest me (Arvind Kejriwal) till I give them what they want to hear? The moment I say 'I am innocent and have done nothing', it becomes an evasive reply. Whatever I say is an evasive reply… What I am saying is the truth and not what the interrogators want to hear. Even this, it is for the court to decide what is the truth,” he added.

“Arvind Kejriwal has lost 8.5 kg.”

Last week, AAP leader Sanjay Singh had said that Kejriwal had lost 8.5 kg since his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21.

“When Arvind Kejriwal was arrested on March 21, his weight was 70 kg but today his weight has dropped by 8.5 kg to 61.5 kg. The reason is unclear and no serious investigation has been done as to why he has lost so much weight. Losing 8.5 kg and having no known reason is a symptom of many serious ailments and any doctor can tell you,” he said.

The CBI arrested Kejriwal days after a court granted him regular bail, which the Delhi High Court later stayed.
