CCS Survey: Lack of Diabetes Education

DALLAS – CCS partnered with independent market research firm Pure Spectrum to survey more than 1,500 people with diabetes to understand their attitudes on a range of timely issues, including the growing demand for GLP-1 weight loss drugs. .

of investigation We found that 57% of people with diabetes believe that GLP-1 weight loss drugs alone could be a magic bullet to help them achieve their health goals.

Other findings from the study:

  • 36% of respondents said they felt they were provided with enough information to effectively manage their condition when they were first diagnosed with their condition or when they first took responsibility for their care. I feel like it wasn’t there.

  • 71% believe that the organization that supports diabetes care management should be involved in diabetes care between doctor visits, but 41% typically only see their doctor two or three times a year. This suggests that there are significant gaps in support.

  • 94% said they would like to continue to engage with their diabetes care supplier as an important part of their care team.

  • 42% reported experiencing a life-threatening emergency due to diabetes. Of this group, 82% also said the emergency could have been prevented with better support in managing their diabetes.
