Research tracks the risk of insulin as a second line diabetic drug

An observational study by researchers at Vanderbilt University Medical Center found that metformin, an adult with type 2 diabetes taking insulin in addition to the recommended first-line drug therapy, was 30% higher risk of heart attack, stroke, or death compared to similar patients who enhance metformin regimen with sulfonyluiria.
