Hometown Hero: GLIBE promotes healthy living through events, giveaways and more | Star City Hometown Hero

This week’s Hometown Hero is the Greater Lafayette Indiana Black Expo.

The GLIBE is one of thirteen Indiana Black Expo chapters in the state.

The group hosts events such as back-to-school giveaways and scholarship luncheons.

Recently, the expo has started hosting events focused on healthy living.

This weekend, they’re hosting a Healthy Heart Event in memory of longtime member and community leader Jesse Moore.

“Jesse had some issues with his heart,” Jos Holman, GLIBE treasurer, said. “He even encouraged folks to have their hearts checked in the past 2 to 3 months. So, this particular event really honors him (and) hopefully will create more to the legacy of Jesse Moore.”

This weekend’s event will be held at the Tippecanoe County Public Library in downtown Lafayette Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
