November marks Diabetes Awareness Month, raising support for those affected by the condition

VICTORIA, Texas – The Texas A&M Coastal Bend Health Education Center is preparing to host events throughout the month of November as part of Diabetes Awareness Month.

The center provides free health education courses on symptoms and illness management for those with pre-diabetes and Type 2 diabetes.

Registered Nurse and Certified Educator Hilda Ramirez says with proper education and healthy lifestyle changes, people with diabetes can manage the impact from the disease.

The CBHEC is planning a 5k walk and run to raise funds and awareness for the free diabetes education provided to local residents.

Diabetes Awareness Month was created in 1975, intended on helping educate and support the affected public. Increased efforts to raise funds for research are also a high priority during the month.
