WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital offers classes to teach patients ways to better manage their diabetes. Class participants learn how to use a glucose meter, how to manage high and low blood sugar, healthy eating, and other ways to live successfully with diabetes. Classes are interactive, and questions are welcome. Topics covered include:
· Class 1 – What is Diabetes? / Diabetes Management / Hypoglycemia and Hyperglycemia / Goal Setting.
· Class 2 – Healthy eating / reading labels / special occasions.
· Class 3 – Medicines / Diabetes complications / Healthy behaviors / Travel and emergencies.
· Class 4 – Activity and Movement / Emotions and Diabetes / Practical Applications.
· Class 5 – Healthy Coping/Getting Back on Track. Class 5 is scheduled 2-3 months after the completion of classes 1-4.
