Franciscan Health Michigan City Hospital will bring faith-based diabetes education to local churches this fall.

The hospital offers a Fan Out Diabetes Program that provides free education in LaPorte County churches with minority congregations. Franciscan Health Michigan City partners with community organizations to offer programs free of charge after church services on Sundays.

Parishioners can participate in diabetes education, prevention, and detection workshops. They can receive testing, assistance with obtaining insurance, and other resources.

Fan Out Diabetes Workshops will be held at noon Oct. 6 and Nov. 3 at New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ, 400 Meadowbrook Blvd. Located in Kingsford Heights. If you attended the first workshop on Saturday, please join us for the second workshop next month.

In addition to Franciscan Health Michigan City, sponsors include MHS, CareSource, MDWise, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Michigan City Chapter Indiana Black Expo, Inc., and Covering Indiana Children and Families.
