I received the announcement in the email this morning, even though it was published on June 4th: The Juvenile Diabetes (Research) Foundation, a long-standing and independent research and advocacy organization, has changed its name and brand to: Breakthrough T1DThe organization originally began as the “July Onset Diabetes Foundation” and was later renamed the “July Onset Diabetes Research Foundation” to emphasize its research efforts, and then “JDRF” to recognize that not everyone who has or will develop type 1 diabetes is a child.

Medscape Here are some interesting statistics about people with type 1 diabetes: For example, the average age worldwide is 37 years old.

The rebranding this year is aimed at drawing more attention to the fact that the organisation works on behalf of all people with type 1 diabetes, regardless of age, and that its broad portfolio of work includes less visible trials and projects, such as funding for devices and biological therapies, including stem cell trials and research.

Their new Website It's about finding out what they want to achieve in the future and where they came from to get here, which is exactly what I'm going to do later today.
