  1. Increased risk of severe COVID-19 complications: The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the increased vulnerability of people with diabetes and obesity. Studies have shown that these conditions can significantly increase the risk of severe illness, hospitalization, and even death from COVID-19. To reduce this risk, it is important to strictly control blood sugar levels, follow vaccination protocols, and adhere to preventive measures such as wearing masks and social distancing.
  2. Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD): NAFLD is a growing concern among people with diabetes and obesity. The condition results in the accumulation of fat in the liver, which can lead to inflammation, scarring and even liver failure.
