The Taste of Ignorance – Written by Rachel Zinman Yoga

There is only one seamless reality. That consciousness flows into and through all living and inanimate objects. Self is not derived from any sense, but exists through all senses. We call it the principle of cognition, awareness, and consciousness, and we human beings personalize it as “my” cognition. However, logic suggests that what is common to all cannot be personal.

What else do they all have in common? ignorance.

we don’t know who we are. We do not know that we are only consciousness. We think of ourselves as bodies, minds, thoughts, ideas, and ideologies. And we fight for our ideas. We are fighting against the inherent nature of ignorance.

We hope that America’s recent decision to strip women of their right to choose will be the final straw. An event that went beyond limits in a good way. One belief system dominating another, or one ideology dominating another, only puts the nail in the coffin of delusion.

When did someone have a say over another? It is true throughout history that some humans have been oppressed and dominated over others. So the question I’m asking today is: If ignorance is the fundamental problem and ignorance continues unabated, where are the solutions?

Yes, I can vote for a kinder, healthier government. I can move to a state that protects my freedom. I can send money to charities and organizations and do everything I can on a relative level to make this world a better place for my children and grandchildren. But what is the deepest and most profound action I can take?

I can wake up!

I can engage in the greatest purpose of human existence: knowing who I am. I can know myself. I can know myself as the ever-present consciousness flowing in and through everything. Unaffected by slings and arrows.

Knowing this brings the deepest comfort. The best peace. I think it’s okay for all of us to start asking this question. To remove the darkness of ignorance, there is hope in these very dark times we are in.
