For the second year in a row, Walgreens has participated as a sponsor of “Children with Diabetes,” an initiative to support children with diabetes. Walgreens, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing education and support to families living with type 1 diabetes, will be speaking at the upcoming Friends for Life conference. Walgreens will showcase a range of diabetes services and healthcare solutions at the annual event, which runs from July 9-14 in Orlando, Florida.

FFL is a weekend event that brings together passionate professionals, adults, children and families living with diabetes with the goal of inspiring and connecting the community.

“Nearly half of the U.S. population has diabetes or prediabetes, and access to resources and the support of local pharmacists can have a huge impact on managing their health,” said Tracey D. Brown, executive vice president, president and chief customer officer, Walgreens Retail. “Walgreens believes in CWD's mission to empower families with diabetes and all people to live healthy, fulfilling lives. As someone who has had diabetes for 20 years, I want to encourage others with this chronic disease not to give up.”Continue to thrive.”

Walgreens said it is proud to participate in the event focused on children and adults with diabetes and their caregivers. The event highlights the importance of community and provides a valuable opportunity to share educational resources and guidance for establishing and maintaining healthy, effective treatment. Walgreens offers a full range of diabetes-related products and services, including blood glucose meters and test strips, at-home A1C testing kits and highly-trained pharmacists who specialize in diabetes care.

As part of the booth experience, Walgreens and Instacart will open pop-up shops selling Walgreens-branded diabetes supplies, first aid supplies, sun protection and more. The pop-up shops will feature Instacart's scan and pay technology, allowing customers to use their mobile device's camera to scan the barcodes of items in their cart and instantly check out with digital payment.

Speakers at the conference include Brown and Shauna Marques Wilson, Walgreens Pharmacy and Retail Operations Director, Georgia/North Florida Region, who will highlight that Walgreens is advancing the next generation of clinical trials by eliminating traditional barriers to participation and giving communities more flexibility and convenience to participate.
