With diabetes, finding ways to control and maintain blood sugar levels can be difficult. In many cases, people with conditions are forced to find a way to substitute items with high sugar content.

In fact, the latest research shows that nine out of 10 women who make simple drink changes could achieve remission of type 2 diabetes.

Findings published in the American Diabetes Association found that women with type 2 diabetes who chose to drink water on carbonated drinks are more likely to achieve remission.

Lead author, Dr. Hamid Falszcz, said: “These findings challenge the popular belief in the United States that taking dietary therapy has no potential adverse effects on managing weight and blood sugar.”

Diet soda is filled with artificial sweeteners instead of sugar

Furthermore, the data show that women diagnosed with type 2 diabetes will lose more pounds if they choose water over soda at the dinner table.

A new survey led by Drink Living Things found that 43% of people in the UK swallowed carbonated drinks more than water for a week.

Despite being low in calories or even completely free, artificial sweeteners play a central role, making your drink as sweet as your authentic counterpart.

This study evaluated 81 women diagnosed with type 2 diabetes after undergoing a six-month program to lose weight.

After the weight loss regime, women were placed in a weight maintenance program. Thereafter, during further evaluation, 50% of the women drank water and the rest consumed soda.

Approximately 90% of people who drank water were able to achieve remission of type 2 diabetes. Meanwhile, only 45% of the diet soda group were in remission.

Dr. Farshchi said: “Most women in the Water Group who are achieving remission for type 2 diabetes highlight the importance of promoting water as well as low-calorie alternatives as part of effective diabetes and weight management.

“It's a small change that can have a major impact on long-term health outcomes.”

Furthermore, when it comes to weight loss, the swimsuit lost 15 pounds, while the rest lost 10 pounds according to American survey results.

Before embarking on lifestyle changes such as diet, it's best to consult a GP or comparable healthcare professional to make sure the changes are right for you.
