Free Diabetes Education Classes and Support Groups provided by HSHS Medical Group

Effingham, Illinois (Effingham Radio) – HSHS Medical Group Diabetes and Endocrinology – Effingham provides world-class care near your home along with a highly specialized team of local experts.

To help and encourage diabetes and their families, and to encourage HSHS Medical Group diabetes and endocrinology, Effingham offers diabetes education classes and monthly diabetes support groups for free. All classes and support groups will be held at the offices of Effingham Suite 200, 500 N. Maple St.

  • Free comprehensive diabetes education classes – This free class will give you a better understanding of all types of diabetes management. Topics include nutrition, surveillance, medication, healthy coping, and reduced risk. Class participants receive individual goals and a comprehensive diabetes management plan. After this first class is completed, a follow-up class is scheduled.

Date/Time: It will take place on the first Tuesday or Thursday of the month, morning or afternoon.

  • April 1st, 9am to 12:30pm
  • May 1st, 12:30pm to 4pm
  • June 3rd, 9am to 12:30pm
  • July 3rd, 12:30pm to 4pm

  • September 4th, 12:30pm to 4pm
  • October 7th, 9am to 12:30pm
  • November 6th, 12:30pm to 4pm
  • December 2nd, 9am to 12:30pm

Diabetes Support Group – Join other members of the diabetic community in a supportive and caring environment. Each meeting includes diabetes-related topics, recipe demonstrations, and plenty of laughter and fun education. No registration required – everything is welcome.

Date/Time: The second Monday of the month, from 5pm to 6pm

Dr. Radhika Annam of HSHS Medical Group Diabetes and Endocrinology, endocrinologists and registered dietitians and diabetes educators Tracy Dennis and Adrienne Jarrell, are needed to manage the condition and live the best life for people with diabetes. We work together to provide you with tools.

HSHS Medical Group Diabetes and Endocrinology educators can also be used for individual counseling for diet, medication administration, device initiation and troubleshooting (glucose monitors, insulin pumps, CGMS/sensors). For more information or questions, please call 217-391-5460.
