Gothenburg Health’s Population Health team is leading a community-wide initiative to raise awareness about diabetes throughout November, offering education, resources, and discounted testing to support those living with the condition.
From Nov. 10–14, residents can take advantage of Direct Access Testing (DAT) for A1C levels at a reduced rate of $10, with no doctor’s order or appointment required. Knowing your A1C number is a key step in managing diabetes and improving overall wellness.
On Nov. 12 at 9:30 a.m., the Population Health team will host a Crossroads Convo at the Crossroads Café, featuring a representative from Insulet to discuss tubeless insulin pumps. Attendees can enjoy coffee and a light snack while learning about new technology in diabetes care.
In addition to events at the hospital, the team will visit Gothenburg Public School on Nov. 10 to educate students about diabetes and healthy habits.
Gothenburg Health has also partnered with Fresh Seasons Market to promote diabetic-friendly recipes and food swaps. Shoppers can look for blue “simple swap” signs throughout the store and visit the front table for recipes and a shopping list with labeled aisles. Grocery bag inserts will include information about A1C ranges.
Living with diabetes can be overwhelming, but Gothenburg Health offers a specialized diabetes education program that provides compassionate support, tools, and resources to help individuals manage their condition. For more information, call 308-537-1009.
