A nurse-led healthy lifestyle group intervention enhanced supportive care for patients living with metastatic breast cancer, according to the findings of a small, open pilot study.

Led by Loren N. Winters, ANP-BC, OCN, Dipl ABLM, CHWC, Mass General Brigham Cancer Institute, Boston, Massachusetts, the exploratory sequential mixed-method study assessed if the tailored intervention was feasible and acceptable.

“Patients receiving targeted therapy for metastatic, estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer have psychosocial needs and treatment-related symptoms that healthy lifestyle behaviors may ameliorate. Survivorship programs for early-stage cancer survivors may not fully address those unique needs,” Winters said during a presentation at the 2025 European Society for Medical Oncology Congress.
