Hillsdale Hospital is hosting a diabetes education event Nov. 10.

The event runs 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the Hillsdale Surgical Group Office at 451 Hidden Meadows Drive, according to a community announcement. There are appointments with providers available if booked in advance, as well as walk-in educational resources.

“We are excited to bring multiple facets of diabetes care together for our community,” wrote Director of Outpatient Clinics Lindsey Crouch.

“Our goal with this event is to make diabetes management more accessible and coordinated for patients. By offering screenings, education and resources from several disciplines in one visit, we’re equipping patients to take important steps toward better health without needing to travel to multiple appointments at different locations.”

Dr. Heather Mewes, director of primary care at Hillsdale Hospital, will provide primary care appointments and help patients get scheduled with a regular provider if needed. Dr. Komal Patel, podiatrist, will conduct diabetic foot exams and discussing podiatric needs related to diabetes. There will also be appointments available for diabetic eye exams.

Other services represented include the Center for Advanced Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine, Hillsdale Medical Supply and Hillsdale Home Care.

Denise Lovinger, registered dietitian and diabetes educator, will provide information on navigating nutrition as a diabetic patient.
