Somebody call Stephen King — it’s the email of the living dead.

More than 500 people in the horror-writing legend’s home state received emails from their health-care system last month — informing them that they were dead when in fact, they were perfectly alive.

The shocking email was sent Oct. 20 to 521 MaineHealth patients, who were informed of both their unfortunate demise and advised how their kin should respond to the turn of events, NBC Boston reported.

It was the standard email typically sent to family members of dead clients and reportedly blasted out to the living after MaineHealth’s software experienced a malfunction.

“MaineHealth sincerely regrets this error,” the group said in a statement.

The nonprofit health-care group is Maine’s largest provider.

MaineHealth confirmed that everybody who received an email was alive and well and that their care was not affected.

The software error has since been resolved, and all the living-dead received apologies.
