New video highlighting the psychological impact of diabetes launched as part of Mental Health Awareness Week

The Eden team, based at Leicester Diabetes Centre, has released a social media video to mark Mental Health Awareness Week 2023, highlighting the mental burden of living with diabetes.

As part of a national campaign, Eden created a video following a young man named Ben, who has type 1 diabetes. Ben has worsened her mental health due to the continued strain of living with the disease.

People will also have exclusive access to Eden’s psychological health online learning resources throughout the week.

James Ridgway, Diabetes Educator at Eden, said: “We are proud to support Mental Health Awareness Week and highlight the challenges faced by people living with diabetes and mental health conditions.

He added: “Our online psychological health resources are just one of the ways we are working to make a positive difference in the lives of people affected by mental health and we are committed to We are committed to continuing this important work.

Mental Health Awareness Week is an annual campaign dedicated to highlighting important topics, tackling stigma and exploring different ways to protect your mental health. This year’s theme, which will be held from Monday, May 15th to Sunday, May 21st, is “Anxiety.”
