Managing your blood sugar levels is a daily challenge, and people often change their diet as a solution.

Eating healthy foods is very important, but other methods can help stabilize blood sugar.

The nutritionist spoke only to GB News and shared four ways to reduce blood sugar levels without causing major changes in your diet.

“There are many ways to reduce glucose levels, and it's not so obvious,” said Ann Garry, an expert at Health Coaches Academy.

Experts say a 10-15 minute walk or some light exercise can help reduce blood sugar spikes.

Gully said: “When you move your muscles, you use glucose from food for energy, which lowers your blood sugar levels.”

Exercise aside, consider practicing deep breathing or meditation to manage your cortisol levels.

The nutritionist said, “Stress can increase cortisol levels and increase blood sugar levels. Engaging in mindfulness practices and deep breathing can help to suppress glucose.”

Getting enough sleep every night is very important as lack of sleep can destroy insulin sensitivity.

She said: “Get enough sleep – lack of sleep makes it difficult to control blood sugar. Aim for quality sleep of 7-9 hours a night.”

According to a study published by the National Library of Medicine, “Studies suggest that sleep loss can lead to impaired glucose metabolism and increased insulin levels, which could increase the risk of developing diabetes.

“Partial sleep deprivation is also associated with changes in appetite regulatory hormones, leptin and ghrelin, which can indicate an increase in appetite and lead to increased food intake.”

Before consuming the meal, Garry suggested tbsp of apple cider vinegar diluted in water.

She explained: “It improves insulin sensitivity and reduces post-meal glucose spikes. Eat at least every 3-4 hours, leaving at least 12 hours between dinner and breakfast.”

Cold showers and ice baths are also recommended to reduce blood sugar levels.

Experts said exposure to a cold can activate brown fats, which improve glucose metabolism.
