Most people, including me, are like bread. There is something incredibly satisfying about eating good bread, and who loves a good sandwich or burger?

Even if you live with diabetes (or just watching your carbs intake), you can still eat bread. Dozens of low-carb bread options have become available in grocery stores and online in recent years.

In this article we will review 10 of the most popular and widely available brands.

How low-carb bread is made

Low-carb breads are usually made with a lot of dietary fiber (irdigestive and does not affect blood sugar levels) and/or nut flour (high infat but lower than regular flour).

This means that you don't think low-carb breads match exactly the regular bread with taste and texture.

Low carb bread tastes different from regular bread, but that doesn't mean it's not tasty! And just like regular breads, low-carb breads come in a variety of shapes and sizes, including sliced breads, muffins, breads, tortillas and more.

How we ranked different brands

All brands include net curves of less than 12 grams per serving.

Net carbohydrates are calculated by deducting fiber and sugar alcohol from the total carbohydrate amount. Since fiber and most sugar alcohols do not convert to glucose, they do not impact blood sugar, so they look at pure carbohydrates rather than total carbohydrates.

I gave each brand a score from 1-5 based on:

Does it look like bread? Does it taste like bread? Is the serving size reasonable? (Some brands list ½ slices as servings…) How does that affect my blood sugar? (This may vary from person to person)

Of course, these are subjective measures, but I hope this review offers a good idea of which brands are better and which brands have room for improvement.

I listed brands based on pure carbs per serving, from lowest to highest.

Tin Slim Sliced Bread

Net Carbohydrates: 0 g

Review score: 2.5 stars

At first glance, this looks like a regular white bread, but the slices are small and once toasted, they take on the texture and flavor of the cardboard. I really didn't enjoy this bread.

The only reason I'm giving 2 and a half stars is that it's very low calorie and zero pure carbs. But I would rather eat some extra calories and carbs and actually enjoy the bread. I will never buy this brand again.

The setup of ingredients and production facilities means that the bread is not suitable for individuals who need to avoid gluten, soy, peanuts, nuts, or dairy products.

Hero Seed Pan

Net Carbs: 1 g

Review score: 4 stars

This bread surprised me in a good way. It is wonderful, smells and the slices are thick.

I really enjoyed the addition of the seeds. It's a little more interesting than most other low carb breads.

I think it needs to toast to make it really enjoyable, but I might have bought some rather old bread.

The bread had very high fiber and very low net carbohydrates, which had minimal impact on blood sugar levels.

Hero Seed Pan

Carbon pan

Net Carbs: 1 g

Review score: 2 stars

This bread looks and smells, but I didn't enjoy the taste or texture.

The extremely high fiber content gives it a chewy texture and bland taste.

If you enjoy the taste, it's a good option for those looking for vegan and gluten-free alternatives. It is also a little more widely available. That's why I give them two stars.

Life in Nature, Keto Soft White

Net Carbs: 1 g

Review score: 3.5 stars

This is a good, thick bread and withstands the name of keto by having only one net carb per slice and 10 grams of total carb.

It's 100% white wheat bread. There were no seeds or other frills, but I still liked the flavor. And if you're looking for low carb bread with white, this is a good option. Because I found it to have minimal effect on blood sugar, so I knew it.

This is not a suitable bread option for those looking for gluten-free bread, as the main ingredients are wheat starch and wheat protein.

If they had included some seeds in their recipes, this bread would have been the winner overall for me.

Linda's Joy Biscuit

Net Carbohydrates: 1.5 g

Review score: 4 stars

You can also debate whether these biscuits qualify as bread, but I'm happy to put in butter so I think they'll do that.

They have the right buttery taste and a slightly crunchy texture, and while they are solid enough to slice, they break easily with your hands even when toasting.

Some people may get a little hit with their preferences, but I like them and they don't affect my blood sugar.

The biscuits aren't big (about 1.3 oz) They are high-fiber baked goods and do not cater to people trying to avoid wheat, soy, peanuts, nuts, eggs or dairy products.

Solas Sliced Bread (Golden Wheat)

Net Carbohydrates: 3 g

Review score: 4 stars

This is a decent low carb sliced bread. It is very soft and tastes, smells, and toasts like regular bread.

The main reason I'm not giving a higher score is that the slices are on the smaller side and the servings are not very fulfilled.

But it's a true low carb bread and has little effect on my blood sugar level.

Made with a large amount of fiber to count down online carbohydrates. Bread is also made with wheat, soybeans, dairy products and eggs, so if you want to avoid those ingredients, that's not a good option.

Sora sliced bread

bfree brown seeded sandwich bread

Net Carbohydrates: 6 g

Review score: 4.5 stars

I really liked the flavor, texture and size of this slice of bread. It has a slightly nutty flavor, and the only reason I don't give it a 5 star score is that it appears to have a slight effect on my blood sugar level (probably because it is made with potato starch).

One of the positives of this bread is that apart from its fantastic taste, you can find it online with my local grocery store.

The main ingredients are potato flour and other wheat flour, so it is a good option for those who want to avoid gluten because it is gluten-free.

Natural harvest light multigrain bread

Net Carbohydrates: 7 g (for 1 slice)

Review score: 4 stars

Nature's Harvest is another bread on most grocery store shelves. It is baked by large commercial bakeries that bake other popular brands, such as Thomas' muffins and Sarah Lee Bread.

That's not a problem at all. And the natural harvest breads lived up to my expectations of what a sandwich bread should look like. But like Dave's killer bread (see below), I found the bread to be a little too sweet for my taste.

Note that the serving is not just one but two slices. They were great enough to list the carbohydrate content of both one and two slices in the package, so it's easy to figure out how many carbohydrates to consume (the 7 g of net carbohydrates listed are for one slice).

It's a wheat-based bread and is baked with soybeans, so it's not a good choice for those who want to avoid gluten and soybeans.

Dave's Killer Bread – A good seed with thin seeds

Net Carbohydrates: 10 g

Review score: 3 stars

Dave's Killer Bread is another brand on the shelves of many supermarkets. It is probably the most sold organic bread in the United States.

I chose a good seed thin bread for this review as I had the lowest net curve count of options available at my local store.

It looks like a regular slice of a sandwich bread, but I thought the slices were a bit on the small side. I also found the taste to be a little too sweet. It had a big impact on my blood sugar level, but it didn't work for me.

It's wheat and seed bread, and it also contains a few grams of sugar added (this may explain why I think it's sweet).

Food for Life, Buds 7 Grains English Muffins

Net Carbs: 12 g

Review score: 3.5 stars

This is not the lowest carb bread, but it has been my staple for years. It has a mild, almost nutty flavor, and the toast and smells like a whole grain muffin.

It is made entirely of flourless sprouted grains, which means it has a lower glycemic index than regular bread (36 vs. 75 for most other breads). This means that it will convert into glucose in the bloodstream, which should cause lower blood sugar spikes than regular bread.

However, I often notice the shock of blood sugar when I eat this bread.

The serving size is the only thing that really bothers me about this bread.

Muffins are vegan, but are made from sprouted wheat and soybeans, so they are not suitable for those trying to avoid it.

Please let us know if your favorite low-carb bread doesn't appear on the list. I'll add it. The only requirement is that a glass or slice of bread must exceed up to 12 g of net carbohydrates.

I test many low carb products. Some of the other reviews are as follows:
