The New York City Medical Examiner's Office said Wednesday that Michel Tratchenberg died of natural death from complications of diabetes.

Although no autopsy was conducted, the results of the toxicology tests have become even more clear, according to the medical inspector's office.

The “Gossip Girl” actress was found dead in a Columbus Circle apartment in February at the age of 39.

Previously, Trachtenberg's family opposed autopsy on religious reasons. With no foul play or suspected criminality related to the actress' death, inspectors did not dismiss the family's objections and limited the investigation to external testing and lab testing.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 38 million Americans have diabetes. This is a chronic health condition that affects the way the body controls glucose. This number has risen for the past 20 years, and diabetes is currently the eighth major cause of death in the United States.

Trachtenberg made her acting debut as a child star who played roles in the Nickelodeon Project, including the television series The Adventure of Pete & Pete and the film Harriet The Spy.

The actress first became prominent in her role as Dawn in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” which she performed between 2000 and 2003.

She was even more successful as Georgina sparked “Gossip Girl” from 2008 to 2012. For her role, she was nominated for The Choice TV Villain at the Teen Choice Awards in 2012.

Friends and co-stars of Trachtenberg, including Blake Lively, Rosie O'Donnell, Chace Crawford and others, lamented the actress after her death.
